Your Internet presence

- Building your business pages # 2
iBusiness Process
4.. BUILD #2
GOAL FOR WEEK 5
1.. Refine iBusiness Site Theme for your Domain Name
2.. Narrow or broaden your Site Theme so that it is just right ..
not too narrow and not too broad.
3.. Develop your UpSP (Unique PreSelling Points)
5.1 Researching a name for optimal business benefits
Your business name may not reveal what you do to your audience and the Search Engines, eg amilio-simpson-consulting.
But rose-growing-solutions.com certainly identifies what you do and your target audience.
Of course you could combine all this … amilio-simpson- rose-growing-solutions.com
Your Site Plan
This is your Keyword List. This is your site map !!
Check your iBS Keyword Template from Week 3. Here you will find:
Supply and Demand data - your first pages have the BEST Value.
Suppliers - did you record any sites that rank well and contain information that you can use for deeper research?
Partners - merchants with Affiliate plans you would be proud to represent;
Ideas for Content – possible topics to write about.
Check your Site Map from Week 3 and 4.
Now some questions about your Site:
1.. Broad or Narrow Niche?
As narrow as possible,
but still with great value or profit potential.
and grow your concept.
2.. If too narrow can paint into a corner
In future you will most likely broaden your concept once you have filled your niche.
3.. Stick with what you know and with which you have a passion.
4.. Limited time? Stay narrow – note number 1 above.
5.. Value and profitability – review Supply and Demand.
Choose a Theme that has “loads” of related high-profitabilty keywords.
6.. Suppliers and Content Ideas – check what you have recorded.
Are there similar topics that you can do better?
Do you see a niche? Or a different approach?
7.. Possible Partners – How many good solid affiliate programs are an appropriate fit?
8.. Search Engines .. “Winnability”
- It’s hard to get into a Search engine Top 10 for broad-based concept keywords.
- Search Engines are concentrating more and more on the THEME of a site. If you chose a broad-Theme with several major sub-Themes, it is harder to do well with the sub-Themes than if you dedicated a single site to a sub-Theme.
- The nichier the better.
5.2 What is your UpSP?
A UpSP is the affiliate equivalent to a merchant’s USP (unique selling proposition) when selling goods and services.
An Affiliate PREsells by offering high-value information.
You may find that as you consider the goods/services you may offer, that you need to consider both a USP and a UpSP for the referring traffic to a non-competing partner site).
So what is a USP?
It is your service/product’s UNIQUE, most powerful BENEFIT that is in line with a strong unique feature of your business?
Here’s some more thoughts on how to do it.
1.. What service are you selling? What does your service provide?
2.. What is the features? Refer to Week 4.
3.. What is the benefit to your client? What pain does it take away, what solution does it provide?
4.. What is unique .. about the service … about you. What makes YOU stand out? SWAT it!!
This exercise crystallises your VISION of what you do. Write down your USP.
Having difficulty? Try this …
“ If I had unlimited powers, and could grant my client the biggest benefit, I could possibly imagine, that s/he would really want from my service .. what would that be?
Write down your answer … consider this with your USP.
So what is my UpSP?
Answers two critical questions about your Site Theme …
1.. What specific and high value information does your site deliver?
2.. What is your unique positioning for this delivery (ie what is your angle of approach)?
Your site will shout this to your visitor and in very few words.
It’s about KISS !! Do you know what KISS is?
When a visitor reaches your site, they will immediately know and understand what your site is all about, because your UpSP is:
In your Domain Name.
WOW!! Really!!
- No over-cleverness nor sublety.
- Add a marketing Theme/angle by including your Site Concept Theme Keyword.
That’s a double whammy … BOTH your visitor and Search Engines know what you are about.
5.3 Registration of your Domain.
What is a good domain?
- Short and sharp
- Meaningful and conveys a clear message
- Easy to spell
- Memorable and easy to remember
- Unique, descriptive and “you”
- Solid and classic, but not obscure.
- Consider .com, .net and .org
Dashes or no Dashes?
If three or more words, it separates the words.
Easy on eyes and SEs treat them as spaces.
Most of your work is online so dashes may not be an issue. There are technical ways to overcome this.

SUMMARY
WEEKLY CREATIVE THINKING
# 1 Creative exploration is this time as you visit some well trafficed sites and
take notes on the page construction. Look at image sites, information sites, stores ...
Spend possibly more time on information sites, since that is where you are beginning.
You now know the tools to use to identify well trafficed sites as well as links used in Weeks 1 and 2. If in doubt, "drop me a line".
# 2 Consider your Goal. Revise it if necessary, make it really SMART.
WEEK 6 … What is on?
Wow, Week 6 is coming and what is in store?
Week 6 is about understanding what is a webpage, what makes it up? You communicate with your visitor through your words.
Week 6 will be revisiting your HomePage, rewriting if necessary and then creating a Tier 2 page.
Week 6 will enable you to learn how to easily check your basic code within your pages, and to upload with confidence.
In Week 6 we will consolidate what we have done, discuss issues and chase up any unanswered questions.
With your writing on the Internet, celebrations are near.
